The Lower Crane Valley is a linked network of open spaces along the River Crane. These open spaces include areas of grassland, heathland, wetland, woodland and scrub and provide an important corridor for wildlife. The area has a rich industrial and archaeological history. There are places to explore, play, exercise and learn in, plus playgrounds for children to enjoy. Meadway Orchard was previously a neglected green space left to scrub and ivy but was reclaimed by FORCE in 2013. It was repurposed as a community orchard and planted with new fruit trees and fruit bushes in 2013. Friends of Meadway Orchard volunteers look after the orchard removing thistles, brambles and weeds and meet weekly. You can contact the Friends of Meadway Orchard via the Let's Go Outside and Learn links below and on https://www.instagram.com/lets.gooutsideandlearn
