Very close to the town centre this park slopes down towards the Ravensbourne valley with panoramic views towards both Beckenham and Crystal Palace. Purchased in 1878 by the then Town Council it was the first recreation area in the borough. A War Memorial, with bronze statues attached, can be found near the entrance upper to the park. The upper slopes are designated as a Site of Interest in Nature Conservation (SINC) as one of very few acid grassland areas in the region. As such the Broom plant, after which the borough is named, can be found on these slopes flowering in late spring. The park is used for informal exercise activities, as well as containing a children's playground.
