The 26.5 acre site is owned and managed by the London Borough of Croydon and is adjacent to Higher Drive Recreation Ground. It is a site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation and received Local Nature Reserve status in June 2003. There is a mix of woodland, including patches of Ancient Woodland, and open grassland.
