Finchley Way Open Space (FWOS) is the site of the former Brent Lodge house and gardens, amounting to 0.69 hectares in total. Brent Lodge was built in about 1810 and was demolished in 1962 but there has been a house and gardens on the site from at least the 18th century. The site comprises three sections: the Green Field (the site of the house) an open area for sitting and playing; The Copse; and The Orchard (early maps show this area as a kitchen garden). The Orchard in particular is unique in Barnet according to the London Borough of Barnets (LBB) Greenspaces Team, forming, as it does, a partially walled garden. The Copse and the Orchard are woodland.
The organisation with legal responsibility for Finchley Way Open Space is London Borough of Barnet.
Finchley Way Open Space is managed and maintained by Friends of Finchley Way Open Space with London Borough of Barnet Greenspaces Team
