The Lower Crane Valley is a linked network of open spaces along the River Crane. These open spaces include areas of grassland, heathland, wetland, woodland and scrub and provide an important corridor for wildlife. The area has a rich industrial and archaeological history. There are places to explore, play, exercise and learn in, plus playgrounds for children to enjoy. This narrow linear section of park includes areas of grassland, flower meadows, wetland, reed beds and a native hedge planted with fruit trees. The area around Mill Road was the site of Fulwell Mill and Fulwell Lodge, once home to ex-King Manoel of Portugal. There are information boards in the area, exploring the history and ecology of the site.
