Albion Millennium Green is one of 245 green spaces that were created in cities, towns and villages across England to celebrate the turn of the Millennium. The Green is privately owned by a charitable trust (the Albion Millennium Green Trust) whose purpose is to protect and enhance the space for the benefit of the local community. The Green is cared for by the Friends of Albion Millennium Green and other local volunteers. We are currently holders of the Green Flag Community Award which recognises high quality green spaces in England and Wales managed by voluntary and community groups. The Green an open space of about a hectare of land which runs between the end of Albion Villas Road and the railway line between Forest Hill and Sydenham. It is accessible from Albion Villas Road and the Railway Path. It is the site of a former tennis club and is primarily intended for informal recreation, relaxation and offers a place of tranquillity in a busy urban environment. There are winding paths through the woodland area and there are meadow areas, a labyrinth, a community orchard and a small pond to enjoy. There is a wide range of wild flowers and wildlife including woodland and garden birds, butterflies and other insects, frogs and frog spawn in the pond in the spring. There is no parking in Albion Millennium Green. There is public parking on Albion Villas Road except outside Nos 9 and 10. There is also free parking in nearby roads.
